Transport To Gig At Manchester Academy...?

Question

OK here's the deal. Opeth are playing manchester academy. I live in Worlaby so the closest train station is Barnetby. What's the best way of getting to Manchester Academy as I don't wanna book tickets to find I can't get there. I also need to get back obviously. Thanks.

Go to Traveline.org.uk and type in the postcodes, if you give precise start and finish points it will even tell you how far to walk to your bus stop.

There are direct trains every hour from Barnetby to Manchester Piccadilly station which take a couple hours.

From Picadilly it's a 5-minute walk to Piccadilly Gardens where there will literally be a bus departing every minute going down Oxford Road. Bus 42 comes to mind. It's not that far to walk really, maybe 15-20 minutes from Piccadilly Station. Google Map it.

Getting back may be a pain, I have no idea how late the trains one. You may need to kip over in an Ibis or Travelodge or hostel.
