  1. Take a cab from airport to downtown Charlotte Amalie (shorter cab ride but more money for ferry) and ferry over to St John (if the ferry is running, the last I heard it goes 3x a day to St John) 45 minute ride on ferry.

2nd  option would be to take a cab to Red Hook (longer cab ride, more expensive but cheaper ferry price)and ferry to St John. 20 minute ride on ferry.

Third option would be to rent a car on St Thomas (make sure you can bring it to St John) and take the car barge over to St John. You would drive to Red Hook that's where the car barge leaves from. This would be the cheapest option but if you have car trouble on St John, I don't think the car rental people on St Thomas would help you out. You are on your own.

If you take the car barge, just buy one way, this way you aren't locked into times with just one car barge company. I believe there are 2 car barge companies.

FYI, they drive on the left in the USVI.

check this site for prices, car barges and times.

    Good Luck and enjoy)

  2. normally, i call my mom or a cousin to come get me and drop my stuff off @ the house. then i take the car to redhook and take the ferry over. but, that's the cheapest way for ME.

other than that, i'd take the advice of those who looked it up for you already. lol.

unfortunately, you can't call my mom. lol

  3. You can take a cab from the airport to downtown Charlotte Amalie.  The ferry there is a longer ride and a little more expensive that taking it from Red Hook.  The ferry runs 3 or 4 times a day.  You can also take a cab to the east end of the island known as Red Hook and take the ferry from there.  It is a 15-20 minute ride the ferry runs every hour on the hour from 6am to midnight.

You can also take your car on the car barge and they begin running I believe at 6:30am -6:30pm.  Not all the car rentals at the airport allow you to take your car on the barge those that do are Budget and Avis - Hertz does not.  You can always confirm with them - the best way to do this is by calling the local number not the 800 number.  You can probably find this information on VINOW.  Welcome to the Virgin Islands, stay left and enjoy!
