Question:

Transportation from Rome Airport to Hotel San Carlo (Spanish Steps)?

I am a young single female traveler coming in to Rome on my own. I am staying at Hotel San Carlo which I understand is a close walking distance to the "Spagna" subway stop.

How do I get there from the airport?

Is it safe for me to go on my own in the subway? My plane lands around 4pm.

Is there another alternative that might be better for me?

  1. Hi! I'm writing from Italy (so I apologize for my English). From the airport of Rome Fiumicino you can take a train to Termini Station (the main train station in Rome).

The train takes 30 minutes from the airport to Termini station; the price is more or less 10 $.

in Termini Station you take subway line "A" ( direction BATTISTINI) and you get off at the station SPAGNA. Just outside the station SPAGNA you find the Spanish Steps.

    Subway is safe for you.

There are alternatives but they are more expensive and more slow: Taxi.

    Enjoy your time in Rome.

    Bye

  2. Go on the Metro (subway) to Termini station in Central Rome.  Then take the Metro A three stops to Spagna.  Get a crude Metro map from the internet.  (Roma Metro)  Pickpockets like the tourists, so keep your luggage close.  If you are too concerned, contact the hotel and see how much a pickup service is. (It will be 35 Euros for me.) They will pick you up at the airport.

  3. take the subway.

The subway, in my opinion are the cleanest you'll ever be in and extremely safe. they are roomy and confortable

Also get a city subway pass for however long you are there.

you can find stations almost anywhere, this goes for the rest of europe
