Transportation other than renting a car?

Im about to go on a trip for a week to visit friends and i was wanting to fly instead of drive because well its a long drive. the only thing is that once im there i dont want to have to bum rides off all of my friends to get places, but i also cant rent a car because im not 25. any ideas?
