I'm 20 years old and I'm going to be driving a long distance (about 600 miles). My question is this: Is it illegal for someone over 18 (yet under 21) to transport unopened alcohol in the vehicle? I will be driving but I obviously won't be intoxicated.

  1. It is illegal.  Minors are not allowed to be in possession of alcohol, opened, closed, in the body or in a container.

  2. Yeah it's illegal to possess it if you're only 20.  The same deal as if someone had un-lit marijuanna.

  3. Yes. If it is in your car you are in possesion of it. Possesion of alcohol under age 21 is a crime.

If you were over 21, however, it would not be.

  4. Yes, transporting alcohol (or any possession) by a minor is against the law.

There is a legal term called "constructive possession". If you know it is there, and it is in an area you are in control of, you can be charged with it.

  5. as far as i know as long as it is unopened and in the trunk or back of a pickup it is ok.
