We are all going no holiday in a few weeks and we are needing to book a minibus to take us to the airport as we wont all fit in the car. What about my 6month old son, how and what do we do about making sure he's secure because we cant take his car seat.

  1. I presume the Minibus will be making the return journey...ask him before you go if you can fit a child seat and if he will save it until you get back....I am sure he will if you ask.

Re above answer....I think Taxis are exempt...not sure about Mini buses though.

  2. Simple - you find a taxi firm that will supply one. Its illegal to permit him to travel without one anyhow.

  3. HELLO

    LEGALLY

NO SEAT NO CARRYING IN ANY CAR

TRY CONTACTING THE AIRPORT AND ASK ABOUT LEFT LUGGAGE AS YOU WILL REQUIRE IT WHEN YOU GET BACK

  4. Hello,

It depends on the distance, I strongly advise that the child is in the suitable restraint, a car seat in this case. But, you may, Only if the driver is comfotable with this decision, to actually hold the child on your lap at your discretion.

I think you should take the car seat, and either arrange to leave it at the airport, or take it with you. They may not neccercerily charge for it, as you already have luggage present. If not, then you should kindly ask the cab driver to take the seat back to your family.

Best solution : Taking the seat with you on holiday

If may actually come in useful for on the plane, and for vehicles in which you hire overseas.

  5. Most all minibuses will supply you with whatever you need from car seats to wheelchairs as long as you call them in advance.......

  6. Taxis are exempt http://www.thinkroadsafety.gov.uk/campai...

Whether your minibus is a taxi or not is the question - do you mean an 8 seater? in which case, that is technically a car, and therefore is exempt.

Not sure where you stand if it is a proper minibus (16 seater for example)

Not sure that i would be happy in a taxi with an unrestrained baby anyway - the way some of them drive!

All seems a little bit daft really that you MUST do this and MUST do that when it's a car, but you can quite happily hop on your local arriva or stagecoach bus and sit there surrounded by metal bars and poles with your little one completely free of any restraint!

  7. you could take ur car seat and if u really trust the firm ur going with (or just ask anyway) if u use them alot ask them if they can store ur chiar in the office and bring it on the journey to pick u up there

or find a taxi firm that will supply one.

    hope this helps

  8. the mini bus firm l worked for would take your car seat and then remove it from the bus and then bring it when you needed collection
