Help! My boyfriend will be moving across the country and would like to fly. He has 4 red eared slider turtles... they can all fit in one small tank. Can these be transported via airplane? If not, is there any other way? Any advice is very helpful and very appreciated...

  1. im not sure how to transport them just make sure that they have a heat sorce or they will freeze

  2. check with the airline. since they are small most will probably let him carry them on and place under the seat in front of him. I have two that are about 4 in. each and they fit easily together in a 2 gal. travel box that I got them in as babies. He could prob. get 2 travel boxes and put 2 turtles in each box. But he should wait till the very last minute to put them in before leaving and get them to their tank asap on arrival. I usually give mine a couple of inches of water (where they can stand and still poke their heads out) for travel. Its not the best for them because they cant swim around but it will keep them comfortable enough. Just make sure to feed them well before leaving and give them time to go to the bathroom after eating and before going into the travel box. And remember to keep the water warm enough for them while traveling. Hope this helps!
