Trappe Shot among the 11 runners for the Vosburgh, as he turned in his final workout and ready for the race
The Kiaran McLaughlin 4-year-old colt, Trappe Shot, sets his eyes on the Grade 1 Vosburgh Stakes, as he turned in his final workout session ahead of the race, breezing an easy four furlongs in 49.45 seconds on 23 September, 2011.
The Mill House owned colt has done extremely well in the 2011 season, winning 2 races out of 3 starts so far, with a second place finish on the board in his last outing.
The son of Tapit, out of Shopping by Private Account, Trappe Shot rolled in second in the six furlong dash, the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap.
On 7 August, 2011, Trappe Shot downed Calibrachoa and the rest of the field, but couldn’t take over Sean Avery who won the race with the winning time of 1 minute and 9.71 seconds.
On his preferred surface, Trappe Shot made all of his career starts on dirt, and this year his connections have preferred the shorter distance of 6 furlongs in all of his three starts.
The Kiaran Mc Laughlin trained colt stayed at Belmont Park in his first two starts, and won both, over a distance of 6 furlongs.
Trappe Shot nailed his season opener under jockey J Velazquez in the Waldoboro Stakes on 11 May, 2011, as he defeated D’Funnybone and Rule by Night, finishing behind him, second and third, respectively, as Trappe Shot completed the distance in 1 minute and
9.03 seconds.
Belmont Park reckoned again, as Trappe Shot represented Kiaran McLaughlin in the Grade 2 True North Handicap, at about 6 furlongs, exactly a month after the Waldoboro Stakes, and this time downed This Ones for Phil and Calibrachoa in 1 minute and 8.86 seconds.
The Grade 1 Vosburgh Stakes is also run over a distance of 6 furlongs, and it has reeled in a massive field of 11 three-year-old and above runners.
David Fawkes's duo, Apriority and Big Drama, is in the line-up with the Todd Pletcher duo, Caixa Eletronica and Calibrachoa.
Bob Baffert will introduce Euroears after a long layoff, and the rest of the line-up consists of Force Freeze, Giant Ryan, Hamazing Destiny, Justin Phillip and Sunrise Smarty.
