Hi. While We're on the subject of the Olympic Spirit. Did you guys catch the USA Paul Vaulter Jenn Stuczynski talking smack!! She said She's going to kick some Russian Butt! Well, instead its her butt that got kicked! Ok, so she won the silver. Big deal! What she did made me lose respect for her accomplishment. Just want to ask what you guys think?

  1. As an american and lover of sports... I think that needed to happen... the best athletes are those that are humble as well as the ones that play within the rules... :D

ADD: However I do think that Jenn has great potential and next olympics may be a force to be reckoned with... I mean come on, who watches the sport and then up and decides that's what she wants to do and then four years later is at the olympics... now that is some great talent...

  2. She's American.  NBC won't focus on that; instead they'll focus only on the people from other countries doing that to our athletes.  lol

Did you hear her coach afterwards?  She went over to her coach in the stands after she won and they had a microphone on the conversation.  That guy was horrible, scolding her for only getting silver.  He didnt congratulate her.  He didnt even give any useful feedback.  Just kept babbling about her getting into a meat grinder.

  3. Yes, this is true. But the real travesty came after Jenn Stuczynski won the silver medal and her coach was blatantly ridiculing and belittling her for the accomplishment. It was utterly disgusting to watch.

  4. Intimidation is part of the game.  If her talking put pressure on the Russian and took it off of her, great, although it didn't come out that way.  When you accomplish anything remotely similar to her, then you can criticize her.  Until then, shut up!

  5. I'm team USA all the way but I agree she shouldn't have been talking any smack. Hey she didn't do too bad though walking away with a silver.

  6. "Ditto" on that answer...I felt the same way.. This is a contest of fitness, when or loose she should just be a good sport.. Her mouth should have cost her also the silver medal for bad representation, and bad sportsmanship..

  7. Trash talking is very common in sports.

I think it can reflect badly on American athletes ...if that's the attitude.

  8. Mother Russia is victorious once again!!!

Мать Россия будет быть мощной еще раз.

  9. Nah, that wasn't trash talking, it was just light hearted banter. If I was to say I can run faster than Usain Bolt, is that trash talking? No, because nobody would pay attention to such a ridiculous comment. The same applies here. She had NO CHANCE of kicking Russian butt.

  10. she's a great pole vaulter, but opening her mouth like that sealed her fate as 2nd best for another 4 years.

  11. Just another example of what happens when you let your mouth write checks that your *** can't cash. As far as you losing respect for her, let this be a life lesson about what a big mouth can do, whether you can back it up or not. Talking smak is a negative no matter which way you slice it.

Oh Jackie....American athletes are not the only ones that talk trash. Let me remind you of Alain Bernard and Ian Thorpe. Seems that I recall that they both participated in talking sh*t this year.
