I always thought that when trash went to the dumps,

that they would take out bottles and cans, etc... to recycle.

then take out yard waist and paper. stuff that would degrade fast. and put it in one dump.

then other stuff like diapers and put them else where.

do other think this also?

  1. I have always hoped that they would do that, but most places do not. It would be too expensive for them to have people sifting through all that garbage. They all should do that!  Good question!

  2. Andy is correct.

  3. yes.. mite

  4. Less than 3% of trash dumps in the U.S. are engaged in any sort of breakdown of the material being dumped in their land fills.

Waste Management (see link below) even says that significant and meaningful steps could be taken in North America that could reduce our land fill usage by nearly 25% in just the first year!

This includes more expansive and aggressive community recycling programs; better sort of refuse and trash; clean incineration programs; etc.

If you really want to be more proactive on this recycle as extensively as possible, start composting and buy products that follow "smart packing" efforts.

  5. ah no a trash dump is just that a dump.to have your materials recycled you pretty much have to do the sorting at the curb side if you have a local recycling program some areas have a biodegradable collection can and material can program.Nova Scotia provides both the organic materials go to a composting plant and the solids go to a sorting plant.the best means of recycling for solids is large deposits on bottles and such these makes people want to return items for the deposit money or encourages others to pick up these items for the money
