Trash on the roads!?

Yesterday we were driving for 50 mins, and I noticed the huge amount of garbage on the side of the road. Everywhere, there was garbage: soda cans, plastic bags, etc. Does anyone else see this? It is nasty, discusting, and plain sad! For the past few weekedns, my family and I have been picking up garbage on local roads! My question is: why do people do that? It looks awful! If anyone out there sees this as a problem as well, do something... go out there and pick it up. It seems gross, but we wear gloves, and take garbage bags and a long poll we deviced and pick it up. This is our earth, our home, NOT one big garbage can! Go out there and make a difference!

Set a good example & keep doing what you're doing. The people who litter are self-centered, me-first Jerks. Hopefully, the youth of today will be impressed by your example & grow up to become more environmentally conscious citizens.

Here in Puerto Rico, it's absolutely awful.  I'm sorry to say that it may never stop.  There will always be people out there that don't care.  I've never been able to comprehend it myself.  For instance, I saw a kid with his parents...  The kid threw a plastic bottle on the ground and the parents didn't even flinch.  It was like they actually encouraged this behavior.  What really irked me was the fact that the kid could've just tossed it into the garbage can that he walked by a meer 10 seconds later...  No foresight or respect!

I pick up trash out there everyday.  Most of this place is completely covered with it.  My efforts don't even begin to scratch the surface of this global problem, not at all.

Sorry for the thumbs down ladies, but one shouldn't let their "friends & family" stop them from doing what's right.  Also, it's not JUST the "nasty scuzzy" people that litter.  I've seen some well groomed, clean, "respectable", business men & women pollute the world in much more horrible ways.

I have always wanted to make a difference,but my family&friends take me away from doing it. I hope the litter will stop FAST.

I agree with you 100 percent>  The world is our home  that we should take care of not destroy. People don't see how lucky we are to get to live were we do. Amen thank God for you and what you are doing.

I believe that people have a real lack of education when it comes to just how damaging this is to our Earth. Alot is probably due to the fact they don't believe that by just throwing a can or two out the window, it won't make that much of a difference.

Until everyone starts to understand and appreciate the long term focus here, I'm afraid it will continue to get worse. Education of the topic is key and hopefully by getting the word out, those who contribute to damaging our Earth will learn to preserve and appreciate it.

Amen...  It is disgusting!!!  The U.S. is starting to look like a third world country...  Unfortunately we have a lot of nasty people that don't give a S*** about the earth...  Pretty sad if every one cared like you and I...  There would not be a problem...  Some people are scumbags what can I say.  We all can make a difference...  If you are walking past trash... pick it up!!!  And don't litter!!!  Every one should SHOULD care!!!  We would not have a problem if we were rid of all the nasty scuzzy people in this world!!!

i thank you so much for helping our environment. i really cant see how people can carelessly throw things out of their cars like it is nothing. people like us that actually take the time to recycle our trash and pick up after those that use the earth as a garbage can make the world go round.
