Trash or Recycle? - My old toaster.?

Hello, I have a toaster that is no longer wanted since it doesn't work so well. Does it go into the trash, or is there some way or recycling it? If it has to go in the trash, then is there a special way of throwing it out?

  1. find someone who likes messing around with electronics / electrical things and see that they make good use of it.

  2. You can go to town square and take your old toaster with you and ask where you would throw it away. Trash or Recycle?

  3. Trash.

  4. Freecycle it. You can do it many ways. One of the most common was previously mentioned - leaving on top of the trash can. Another is to put it on a website or to donate it to a charity, student or other organization. I've added a few resources to get you started.

  5. I usually set stuff like that on the lid of the trash can and it disappears  before trash pickup.

Put a sticky note on it if you want, that says FREE and someone who needs one will take it.  That is the best recycle of all.

Or, you can drop it in one of those Salvation Army bins.

Or, you can put it in your recycle can.  Whatever floats your boat...

  6. always recycle when its an option!

  7. Please don't donate it somewhere if it doesn't work.  No one shopping thrift wants something that is broken - it only wastes their money and gives the charity that sells it a bad name.  The needy don't need broken items anymore than anyone else.

If you put it out for someone to pick up, they will likely just toss it into the trash once they find out it is broken.

If you have a recycling bin, you can put it in there.  Unfortunately, though, it will get sorted with the rest of the recycling and (honestly) probably go to the landfill.    It is doubtful that your local recycling center separates out appliances the way that they separate out tin cans or glass.   Some percentage (10%?  20%?) of the stuff put into recycling bins is not recyclable, and just putting something into the bin (especially something not on your local list of recyclables) doesn't guarantee that it will be recycled.

If you are very concerned, you could find a metal recycler or scrap metal dealer.  They probably won't pay you for it, but would put it in with the rest of the scrap metal for processing. It will then get shredded, the metal parts will be separated into the different types of metals, and recycled.

    Sorry.

  8. Recycle :)

  9. You should go to your county homepage and get a number to call for recycling. Then you should ask if you are able to recycle your toaster, where to, and if there are any special procedures.

    Always recycle.

  10. Recycle.

Where I live there are a couple of "waste transfer stations" where you can throw metal stuff, like your toaster, into a big trash bin.

Go to your county web site and see where you throw out metal stuff.  Counties do this because they are tired of seeing old refrigerators and stoves dumped near highways, better to just reserve a spot where people can dump them for free.

Now if you are throwing out a Dulit Combi toaster at $379.95 (I'm not kidding) ... eBay would be a good place to sell it.

If you want to just throw it away in the trash, nothing special.  You especially don't want to alert the trash pickup and recycling police about your lax recycling habits.

  11. There is no special way to throw it out but I would suggest using Craigslist(its free to post) or if not leave it on top of the trash can or give it to Goodwill.

  12. recycle. wires and magnets

  13. ALWAYS RECYCLE!!! IT IS THE BEST THING TO DO!!!
