I am moving out of my current house. I pay for all utls which includes trash pick up. I put my old metal futon out there in pieces and a small love seat. My landlord then came and told me that the trash company charges more for larger items. I wanted to now if this was true and if it is, wouldnt my trash utl cover it?

  1. That depends on the local refuse service.  Call them.

  2. Call the trash company and ask them their policy.  If this is true (and its certainly possible) I'd just break the thing up and put it into trash bags and then put them out there a few every pickup day.  They'll end up taking it all and never know it should've cost extra.

  3. They usualy do charge more for anything that did not fit in the provided recepticle.

Check with the trash company, they will probably just add it to your final bill.

  4. Trash pickup usually refers to your weekly household trash -- a bag or two of empty cereal boxes, wilted celery, empty spaghetti sauce jars -- not *furniture*. YES, it costs more to have the trash company haul this stuff away, and YES, I think it's perfectly fair for your landlord to make you pay this extra cost. Furniture and appliance removal is *not* the same thing as regular trash pickup.

  5. They charge where I live.   The free day is only once a year.

  6. yes it does cost more ,and some time alot more
