Having no joy online. Can anyone tell me what the cost of an Oyster card for an annual travel card from Zone 1 to 5 would be? Also is it possible to just have train and not bus and underground? Does it work out a lot cheaper to have this type of ticket on an Oyster Card? I can't find prices anywhere for just an annual train ticket??? Any help greatly welcomed. Cheers.

  1. TravelCard about £29

  2. a one day travel card is £7

an Oyster card a bus is £1

I.E ten bus rides =£10 get a travel card

just doing one trip an oyster is cheaper, i tend to pick and chose which one

  3. Here Ya Go

    7 Days 1 Month 3 Months 6 Months 12 Months

    £30.00  Ã‚£115.20  Ã‚£345.60  Ã‚£691.20  Ã‚£1784.

Ignor David S. I always buy my season ticket on my oyster card, and when the inspectors check it they are OK. Where the oyster ticket does not work is if you use it as a pay as you go ticket.

When you get a oyster ticket the first time you have to pay a refundable £3 for it, then it is also advisable to registrar it online, then if you loose the ticket LUL/TfL will replace it.

  4. £1784 12 month zones 1-6 any permitted route (not regional services). if your going between 2 specific stations i might be able to reduce that, dunno about oyster, i only have the information system til 1300 so youll have to be quick

  5. At present if you want to include use of the train it would be better to have a travelcard. You could also buy a train only ticket known as a 'Season ticket'  vlaid for travel between two specific stations, available for periods from one week to one year. Many of the rail companies such as South West Trains give you additional benefits with an annual Season or travelcard like a one third reduction off all off peak train tickets in south east England, cheap upgrades to First Class and 6 free tickets to use on their trains each year, so if you are thinking of buying an annual travelcard I would definitely purchase it from South West Trains. www.southwesttrains.co.uk

Future developments will extend use of Oyster pre-pay to the suburban rail system, probably from 2009. Currently you can use Oyster pre pay on Chiltern Railways from London Marylebone to Amersham only, on 'London Overground' services from Richmond to Stratford,Kentish Town to Barking

and Willesden Junction to Clapham Junction, and on First Capital Connect between St Pancras and London Bridge.

If you download a travelcard on to your Oyster Card it is valid on the suburban rail system within the zones downloaded.

Sorry I wish this was less complicated!

(it is a pity Joolz can't spell ignore)
