Question:

Travel Insurance Policy - Personal Accident Cover?

Hiya!

I'm looking at travel insurance to cover me for a 12 month trip to New Zealand; that also covers for extreme sports such as bungee jumping & sky diving.

I've found one that looks pretty good, and it does say it covers for Sky diving, which includes personal liability cover. However, excludes personal accident cover.

Can anyone explain to me what this means?

I understand personal accident is when something happens to you, e.g. loss of a limb, that was unexpected. Is that right?

What, exactly, would I be covered for if I wasn't covered for personal accident cover?

I've tried to find simple definitions but to be honest, it's all just jargon to me!

  1. liability== if some-one else is injured and you are at fault

  2. Check out the online FAQ on Travel Insurance

  3. Personal Accident cover or PA cover is exactly what you described. Pay out for a specified event like loss of arm, leg, eye etc or weekly benefit for incapacity.

  4. If I were you, I would make a list of questions and contact the agent to explain in detail exactly what you will  be paying and what will and will not be covered for.  Insurance Companies have a way of listing Terms and Conditions that cover them rather than you.
