Travel Requirements for a Cruise to Mexico?

Current status :

Permanent Resident of USA although carry Indian passport.

Issue : My passport has expired and is in a process of Renewal.

Question : Can I still be able to go on a cruise with a valid Green card. Is passport mandatory in this case? The rule mentions that for Permanent Resident , it is not required. However, I need to confirm this.

Also would this cause any issue when I am in Mexico?

Has anyone been in this situation before.

  1. Passports are NOT yet needed to trvel by SEA to Mexico...date has NOT yet beeb sert for ths even tho some travel agencies say differently.  Yhey are WRONG.  See site below and read top half of page for correct, current info.  U.S. permanent residents are subject to exactly the same rules as AMerican citizens when they visit Mexico...so you will have NO problem in Mexico.  Some cruise lines want passengers to have passports...so you need to call your cruise line and ask what their policy is.

  2. For the cruises a passport is needed starting July 2008.

Until then, you will need your birth certificate for travel.
