  1. There aren't any travelcards valid just on the Underground - the 1 and 3 day Travelcards are valid for the Underground, buses, and depending on the zones bought, London Overground trains, Docklands Light Railway, Croydon trams, and National Rail (except Heathrow Express, and Heathrow Connect between Hayes & Harlington and the airport). As you're starting from Victoria you need a travelcard valid in Zone 1. You don't say whether you need an adult or child card, but the rates are:

    3 Day travelcard:

Zones 1-2: Adult peak £17.40, Child peak £8.70 (no off-peak tickets for these 2 zones).

    Zones 1-6 Adult off-peak £20, Child off-peak £6

    1 Day travelcard:

    Zones 1-2 Adult off-peak £5.30

    Zones 1-4 Adult off-peak £5.90

    Zones 1-6 Adult off-peak £7.00

    Zones 1-9 Adult off-peak £8.20

Child off-peak rates: Zones 1-6 £2, Zones 1-9 £2.60; there are no child off-peak 1 day travelcards for zones 1-2, 1-4 or 1-5, peak travelcards are Z1-2 £3.40, Z1-3 £4, Z1-4 £4.70, Z1-5 £5.90. Up to 4 children can pay £1 each for any journey when accompanied by an adult 1-day travelcard holder.

Peak time is 0430-0930 Monday to Friday except public holidays, off-peak is all other times.

If you're not intending to travel on National Rail trains, then it can be cheaper to get Pay-as-you-go Oyster cards, which provided you remember to "touch out" as you leave the Underground system, is capped so that you won't spend more than 50p less than the equivalent 1-day travelcard cost.

You may not be aware of some of the concessions children get on the London public transport system:

Children aged 5-10: can travel free at any time on the buses, Tube, trams, DLR, or Overground. On buses and trams unaccompanied 5-10 year olds do not need a ticket or photocard. On the Tube, DLR or Overground up to four 5-10 year olds can travel free when accompanied by an adult who has a ticket, Oyster card, or Freedom Pass; if they are unaccompanied then they need a 5-10 Oyster photocard in order to travel free.

Children aged 11-15: can travel free at any time on buses and trams; to get free travel on buses and trams, and child rate tickets on the Tube, DLR and Overground all 11-15 year olds must have either a valid Child, Under-14, 14-15 or 11-15 Oyster photocard.

16 and 17 year olds who are not London residents must have a valid 16+ or 16-17 Oyster photocard to travel at child-rate on buses, trams, the Tube, DLR and London Overground.
