Travel expenses?

i am a support worker and need to travel to different peoples homes over the course of the day, one of these persons live 2.2 miles out of town- therefore going there and back is 4.4 miles but sometimes i have to go three times a day, which adds up to a lot of hours over the week/month. but my employer is refusing to pay travel expenses. i can walk which takes me 30 minutes one way, so over the course of a day i would do a marathon (well almost!) does any one know what legal stance i can take on this? ie do the company have to pay mileage over a certain distance? or am i entitled to walking time ( if there is such a thing!!) would appreciate any advice. thank you for listening linda

  1. When I worked as a support/care worker my employer paid my traveling expenses.  I think you really need to see someone at Citizens Advice about this matter as it all depends on what is included in your contract/terms of service.
