Travel from M'sia to NZ, transit in Aus, do i need visa to enter Aus ?

hello all, need help please. i'm holding WHV for NZ , is planning fly from M'sia to Aus then transit to NZ as the directly flight to NZ is expensive, can't afford. When arrive in Aus, do i need any type of visa to proceed ? will there be any custom issue ? thx

you didnt say what passport you hold, but if you are an american passport holder, you need neither a visa nor a transit visa to enter australia. none visa stays of up to 90 days are allowed for american citizens, so you will be fine just switching planes. if you are not an american passport holder, then post again, so we can revise answer as requires....
