Hi, my boyfriend and I are planning on spending a week in Egypt followed by a week in Israel in Spring 2009. Does anyone have any ideas on the best way to cross from Egypt to Israel, logically the Taba border seems the best way but i have been told that it's really dangerous and we'd have to do it by train or bus. As far as i can see there are no flights from Egypt to Israel either.

I have been to Israel several times but never Egypt before, if anyone has any travel tips for either country they would be most appreciated.

Ta very much

  1. You can always fly to Athens from Egypt and then into Israel.

You will find the buses a long trip, with many stops, poor air conditioning if any.

Taba border is fine, it's getting there from where ever you start in Egypt that is the challenge.

  2. u can start in israel, i know there is transportation to egypt. have fun n' safe trip

  3. by boat too. but i had a friend who traveled alone by bus both ways and had no problem. the only issue he had was he was hassled by both the Israeli and Egyptian boarder police. so don't be surprised if they both want to go through everything - its really no big deal though.

but since you have already been to Israel you're use to them going through your bags and asking if you have any explosive devices in your possession!

  4. You can fly:

        * 2 carriers operate between Cairo, EG and Tel Aviv, IL

        * 2 flights per week fly between Cairo, EG and Tel Aviv, IL

        * The largest aircraft flying between Cairo, EG and Tel Aviv, IL is a 757 operating by El Al Israel Airlines with 180 seats.

        * 240 seats are available per week fly between Cairo, EG and Tel Aviv, IL

You can travel trough Taba in Bus, but there are some security threats
