A friend of mine is moving to Australia and next weekend is her Bon Voyage party!

What is a good travel gift to get her? She is someone I've know for years and years but we are not real close friends... :o) Thanks very much!

  1. An inflatable neck cushion - priceless!

  2. I guess the best gift will be your best wishes to ur friend and the promise that even when ur friend is far away, she'll be always closer to you. I guess she will never lose this gift in her life.

  3. Get her a little bag of toiletries...

    Sample-sized:

    shampoo

    conditioner

    bodywash

    hand soap

    hand sanitizer

    deoderant

    body spray

    toothpaste

    or...

    travel toothbrush

    little package of Q-tips

    wipes

small package of facial cleansing cloths

    condoms

    gum/mints

    snacks

    etc.

part or all of the above, add you own.  But especially with the flight restrictions now, travel-size toiletries are pretty much a necessity and after such a long flight she will most likely want to crash, not dig through her stuff to find everything she needs.

Now here's the fun part.  Since she is moving to Australia, get some stickers, blank labels, glitter pens, etc. and "re-label" all the toiletries.

Body spray could become "Kangaroo Repellent"

Condoms are now "Doodle Hats" (a doodle is... well... yeah)

Wipes are "Date Cleaners" (date = rear end)

and so forth and so on...

That site is a Australian Slang Dictionary, so be creative and good luck!

EDIT - You could also print off the slang dictionary for her, I was reading through a bit of it and some of the words mean very very different things in America...  like date =D

  4. How about an adaptor, which converts 220 volts into 110 volts?  She can run her favorite appliances from the U.S. without risk of blowing them up with the higher voltage found in other places in the world.

Places like Radio Shack and Circuit CIty sell these things.
