We (husband and I) will be on a cruise but will fly into Barcelona and will be in Italy and France as well as Spain. We're in our early 50's, dress conservatively. What do you recommend we pack for light (one suitcase w/wheels, one carry-on each) travel? We will spend 4 days in Barcelona before and after the cruise.

  1. First pack a bag in a bag for things to bring home. I am not sure about your hotel but most cruises they have irons. Which brings me to my wrinkle full philosophy of packing. Roll up your clothes tightly and put them in a giant ziploc and push all the air out to compress your clothes. Amazing space is saved. However I would plan on wearing things twice or bringing clothes that can be thrown away.

  2. Not kidding here, buy light weight clothing. I mean really, get more synthetics, they breathe more these days, wear better, look sharp, are usually weather proof and you can wash and take less total clothing (think about washing them in hotels and line dry overnight).  My wife and I did lots of traveling. Have a great trip!

  3. Just bring cash and don't pack anything.
