Question:

Travel opportunities after high school?

I just graduated high school and I am not going to university for at least one year. I know that I want to travel but I would like to be involved in a program or group of some sort(safer and most often cheaper). Since my marks in school were not the best, i cannot go with the rotary or anything that needs my marks to be above average.

also I am from Canada so it would be best if it was a Canadian site ir program, or easy for Canadians to travel with.

thanks

  1. You can take Australia as an option for tuition fees and cost of living their is cheaper compared to other countries..There are many great schools there to choose from and international students like you can actually work upto 20 hours per week during semester that could help you support your studies..You can check out different universities and more about studying in Australia here: http://www.studyinaustralia.com

    Good luck..:)

  2. It really depends on what you want to do while abroad ... strictly travel, or spend some time working, volunteering, doing eco/adventure tours or anything like that? I really recommend volunteering as it is incredibly character building, looks great on a resume, and allows you to live in a foreign country as part of the community, so you really get the full flavor of the culture.

You can check out this site: http://www.goabroad.com/index.cfm and look for the programs that are right for you -- look under "Volunteer Abroad," "Jobs Abroad" and "Eco/Adventure" ... click around, and find a program or programs that look right to you. You could combine programs and spend a few weeks or months in several different countries, doing a combination of volunteering/traveling/working if you want.

    Have fun!

  3. Lots of kids do the backpack through Europe thing...stay in hostels and work in temp jobs to pay as they go along. Then all you need for the most part is airfare.
