Hello,

I want to ask if anyone travelled to Cuba with 4-5 months old kiddo. And what I should pack for him, I mean what medications, food, or anything what may be handy.

  1. Should be relatively safe. Medics are very well educated and the hospitals are quite good but sometimes there's a lack of supply.

Pack all meds and hygienic stuff you need for your Baby. Its hard to get that in Cuba.

  2. No problem Cuba is safe ......but as always take some precautions .

    - protect the child from the abundant sun , give the child enough   to drink , more as usual.

Never  use tap water , even if they say it's OK . Check this all the time. I almost lost a goldchild ( same age) in Cuba because it was given (contaminated) tap water.

Doctors and medical care are good in Cuba.....but I was several times witness of a lack of medicines. I advise you to

carry with you a small first aid kit with : aspirine , anti-diarrhoea (Immodium) and certanly antibiotics like Bactrim or simular. Watch out with fresh fruit and fruit juice, for the child use only bottled drinks. Take a small supply of baby food to make the transition the first days.

Have a nice trip..... and enjoy

  3. It is very safe to take a little. I've met many people in Cuba who travel with their little ones....and babies too. Take the food that you will normally feed them. A little travel kettle might come in handy for you to have in the room if necessary. It all depends on what your baby requires. Basically, take what your baby needs at home. They have milk in Cuba and they can heat things for you there too if necessary. All you have to do is kindly ask.

I'm not sure if your baby ever requires baby aspirin. But it might be a good idea to take little things like that in case it's needed.

Lots of sunblock because it's really hot and you won't notice it until too late if not protected. Mosquito repellant is good to take.

However, the doctors at the resorts are very well-qualified. So don't worry about that.

The food is good in Cuba. Just make sure you only give your baby fruits that can be peeled (even though the water is purified in the resorts). But it's just always safer when away on holidays with a baby. There's always yogurt, cooked vegetables that is easy for babies to eat. I haven't seen any babies getting sick in Cuba so far. Just always take the necessary and usual precautions you would anywhere.

Brings packets of oatmeal that you could boil in the travel kettle....things like that.

Take your baby's stroller. It seems like a lot but once you settle in, things will be more comfortable.

  4. I would recommend that you take sufficient diapers/nappies for your trip. (They are available in the Cuban shops - but the size you want may not be available that week).

In Havana, jars of baby food can be found in many supermarkets - I am not sure about others parts of Cuba.
