  1. You could think about getting an Eurail-Pass. Have a look at http://www.eurail.com/

In your case an "Eurail Select Pass" for 3 bordering countries (Germany, Netherlands, France) or 4 countries (if you plan to go via Belgium) would start at €207/$320 (resp. €232/$360). With this pass you can select 5 days (within a 2 month period) on which you can travel anywhere within the selected countries.

Attention: Reservation (which is obligatory on some french trains) is extra, as well as fares for overnight trains (couchette/sleeper).

These extra fares could be quite a lot, especially on french TGV trains or Thalys services between Germany and the Netherlands - if you plan to use any of these you might be cheaper off if you get single tickets.

If you decide for single tickets it will get cheaper the earlier you book (again: especially on the TGV and on overnight services) since there are different limited offers that are easily sold out several weeks in advance.

  2. You don't give enough information about your journey. Do you want high speed (higher cost), how old are you, do you have any discount cards (foreigners can buy passes)...?

Play about with http://bahn.hafas.de/bin/query.exe/en and you might find your answer.
