Travel to Munich, Germany?

What is the best time of year to visit this city? I would like the weather to be mild enough but not hot. Also, I should avoid Ocktober fest as this time of year would be way too expensive and crowded. Please advise.

I like May and early June before it gets too hot.  I suggest staying outside of Munich itself - accomodations can be expensive in the city.

If you can go anytime, avoid summer for anyplace in Europe.  Especially August because all Europeans go on vacation in August.  September would be great and leave the day after Oktoberfest starts.  The parade is beautiful and being there for the opening of the beer tents is fun.  One night of seeing the drunks stumble around the city and the fest is enough.

Usually Spring time is quite nice. The weather is nice not too hot not too cold. Around May or June. However the weather pattern slightly different this year. It’s a bit colder. So I would suggest to check out weather forecast first around early April just see the weather pattern.

Second option will be autumn, maybe end of October (to avoid October Fest crowd).
