I will be at Bellagio Hotel (Lake Como) and wish to travel down to visit relatives in Varese on a weekday. Is hiring a car my only option?

  1. Cindi A, rent a car and take your time to explore the area - you won't have to travel all that far and be a slave to time tables. While in Varese have one of your relatives take you to visit the Villa Lilla Panza di Biumo. It houses one of the most interesting collections (in the gardens and the villa) of Contemporary Art.

  2. Bellagio doesn't have a train station, but you could take the short boat trip to Varenna and catch a train to Monza. From there, change to a train to the Milan P. Garibaldi station, and another train to Varese. The total train travel is roughly 3 hours and costs 8.55 euro (2nd class).

There is also a train connection between Como and Varese - you could take the boat (or SPT bus) from Bellagio to Como. From the Como San Giovanni station there are frequent trains that will take you to the Milan P. Garibaldi station where you can get a train to Varese. The train trip is about 2 hours and costs 6.75 euro.

You can check specific schedules and prices at: http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html

A 2nd train option exists from Como: you can take a Ferrovie Nord to Varese Nord with a train change in Saronno. Schedules and prices: http://www.fnmgroup.it/website/lenord/it...

  3. I think so, because there's no train linking Bellagio to varese, but you can catch a bus, if there's a local one going there.

  4. HI there I'm currently in Varese City(hahah Sound funny Varese City)

you can easy travel by train

There is a direct service and also cheap(6 euros)
