since that chapelle corby incident its a bit freaky travelling to bali.

i mean, DUH taking drugs over there is illegal. but is there anything else that could land you a huge fine or jail?

someone told me if you bring paracetamol, like, headache tablets, they will jail you... what the h**l?

and someone else reckons that you cant bring shampoo, conditioner or purfume over coz theyll take it off you...

i dont think i believe this stuff but if anyone knows about going to bali, please give me some tips on what your not allowed to take there.

  1. If you take any medication have it prescribed by a doctor where it shows your name on the box. I took panadol with me and no body questioned me about them. You can take all your toiletries but to save space and weight in your bag  when I  was leaving  I left my shampoo and conditioner in the room as the cleaners appreciate them. But, there is a limit on liquids (shampoos and conditioners) you can take on a plane now so check that out first http://travel.ninemsn.com.au/article.asp... Have your suitcase strapped before leaving Australia.

The police are armed and patrol the streets around kuta and legian, when bartering with the shop keepers stand your ground to get the price you want to pay for items, if not walk away. They say if you get a red shopping bag you are a sucker. Go to authorised money changers, there are plenty in Bali, one Aus $ = approx 8,000 ind rupiah

I took a small calculator with me just to get an idea how much I should get when i changed money. (exchange  will be slightly more in bali) but before you leave aust just get a small amount changed so that you have some rupiah when you arrive, so you can tip or buy something.  The restaurants and bars will charge tax on top of your bill so be prepared for sightly extra on your bill. I did not use the bar fridge in the hotel room, too dear, you can go to supermarket and get stuff heaps cheaper to take to your room. In kuta there is the matahari supermarket and department store, there are several small supermarkets in and around legian. Catch blue cabs/taxi's they are metered. Oh, the balinese will ask you for your Australian gold coins, dont give these to them as they sell them to people who melt them down to make bangles and rings.

I'm sure i ve forgotten other things if I have sorry, its been 2 years since i last went.

Just look after yourselves while you are there, don't get talked into going anywhere if it does not feel right other wise have a fantastic time.
