Question:

Travelcard options for London commuter?

I have now moved home and office so that I live in Catford and work in Oxford Circus. An monthly 1-3 Oyster Travelcard works but Oyster travelcard top ups etc are not available at Catford so if it runs out, the next morning at the station is problematic.

I am thinking of getting a monthly travelcard between Catford and London terminals which is only £68 plus the 90p per journey on the bus PAYG Oyster from Charing Cross to Oxford Circus (5 trips - I walk in afternoon).

I can only get a paper "rail" travelcard through the rail networks right and not on my Oyster card? I'd prefer to avoid the hassle of having a paper travelcard, an Oystercard, plus sorting out the photocard. I don't see why you cannot just buy a 7 day zone1-3 at the rail station without a requirement for a photocard like you can do at any Oyster outlet. Or can you?
