I asked a question earlier about my insurance company. It was Traveler's insurance. A perfect answer from a perfect person sounds so great but is there REALLY not a 14 day rule.

The insurance company said there was because there was so much fraud in Texas with mold, blah blah blah...

Texas and Traveler's Insurance? Yes or No?

  1. There's no "rule" that a claim has to be filed within 14 days.  Texas uses a non-standard homeowners form.  MY homeowners is with State Farm, so my form is different than Travelers.  HOWEVER, you can check out the form differences here:  http://www.opic.state.tx.us/hoic.php

I'm under the impression Travelers isn't writing the  HO3 in TX.  The exact wording on the HOA is:  Sudden and accidental includes a physical loss that is hidden or concelaed for a period of time until it is detected. Any hidden or concealed damge must be reported within 30 days of its detection.

I think you're talking to the agent, not the company here.  And I suspect the agent is trying to keep their losses down - a company would NEVER say something about fraud & mold.

So.  WHEN did you discover the water problem?  If it was within 30 days of the time you first notified the agent, it should be covered.  If you discovered it six months ago, and only now thought about filing a claim, the WATER portion is likely excluded, but the NON-WATER portion may still be covered.
