I know I'm supposed to have an international driver's license to drive in Peru, but what are the odds I will be stopped without one? Could I bribe a policeman if I am? (I hear they often try to get foreigners to bribe them....)

  1. It has become harder to bribe policeman, some take it as an offense. Have you ever driven in a South American country before? If not, I would not recommend you to drive in Peru, the traffic is really horrible and after all it is cheaper to pay a taxi. But if you still want to drive, I think you can do so with your American D.L.
