  1. Florence is Very easy to walk. You can see all the major sites and still walk around. Venice is similar, although a little bit more difficult since it's like a maze. Rome is huge so you will have to take cabs or buses. While in Rome visit an area called "Trastevere". It is filled with Restaurants and taverns. Great for nightlife.

Also, Pisa, Siena, and Bologna are easy to get around as well.

You'll need a cab in Milan.

    Good luck!

  2. Florence and Venice-- Yes. Very centralizized cites where you can walk to almost everything.

Rome is very large and spread out. There are parts of Rome where you can walk around to many attractions. But certain things such as the Collesium  can be longer distances from other major attractions. You may have to grab a taxi once or twice if touring Rome.

As far as saftey, you will be fine for the most part. Like anywhere just use judgement.

  3. the attractions are generally in the center so you can walk around, but there is a lot to see and a lot to walk, especially in rome!

italy is much safer if compared to the states, especially in the historical centers... but of course if you look too much like a lost tourist, they will try to take advantage from it!

  4. italy is safe what u should be ready for eveything at the same time coz the world is changin' and BE CAREFUL if u go to NAPLES

  5. Only take the white cabs!  The others are private and costa molto!

  6. I confirm you that Florence and Venice are rather easy to be visited just walking since the highlights are rather concentrated.

Rome can't be completely walked but there are easy connections (2 lines of subway-Metropolitana) that are reaching mostly of the interesting areas. I've been there many times and I've never used taxi or bus.

As to safety is like everywhere. Better you don't wear costly garments or furs (if you have and it's winter), don't show Rolex or other valued watches or jewels. Buy a strapped satchel where to put yr wallets and documents and wear it like a belt. If you use the common sense you don't need to be concerned about safety (between us I've been pick pocketed once in my life and I was in NYC-Broadway...!!)

    Enjoy Italy
