what would be the best way to access money in a foreign country? credit card, travelers checks? do banks allow you to make withdraws from banks in other countries? I don't want to have to pay a fee for a transaction, (loosing enough money as it is with the exchange rate). any suggestions?

  1. Hi go credit cards and yes you can draw money from their machines I could do it in Paris,London and Dubai.

  2. The banks get you every way, poor exchange rate if no commission or better rate and commission on both foreign currency and travellers checks.  Credit cards are OK for purchases but cost extra for cash out of ATM.  Debit cards in ATMs are sometimes the best rate and some banks don't charge a fee.

ATMs and CC/DC purchases have the same risk as at home that someone may skim, clone or rob you - especially being 'helpful' to a confused tourist.

  3. The best way is to take lots of cash with you. Nearly all cards charge for withdrawls (think mine is £2.50).

  4. i think the best way would be major credit cards...like visa, master card, discover...ect.
