Traveling by Cruise to BAHAMAS - Current Status H1B & H4. Do we need any special VISA?

I and my wife are planning to take a 5 day cruise to Bahamas (Freeport ,Nassau and few other places). We are on H1B and H4 status in US and to travel to Bahamas by cruise do I have to get any kind of visitor VISA? If yes how and where do I apply? How must does it cost per head?Appreciate your response!!! ~ Pramod

You did not say what your nationality is.  Your NATIONALITY determines whether or not you need a visa to enter the Bahamas.  Your visas to be in the U.S. have nothing to do with it.  You  can use the site below to see if you need a visa for the Bahamas.  Just enter your nationality and destination, then click for the info.  Or, you can use the 2nd site...gives same type of info.


  2. I am going on a cruise too. I am going to the disney cruise and it is taking us to Nassau and and Castaway Cay.  Our travel agent told us we would need a pass port, but when we went to get one at our post office they said when you are leaving from the US on to a cruise ship you don't need one even though you are kind of leaving the country. The only reason you would need one is if something when wrong and you needed to by a plane ticket or something to get back. Besides you only need to get a VISA if you are going to be out of the country for more then 3 months (so I have been told) Hopefully that helped.
