Question:

Traveling by train and bus in Spain?

I need to go by train from Seville to Cadiz on the 18th of June and by bus from Cadiz to Granada on the 22nd of June. Is there a website where I can purchase these tickets in advance, or do I have to wait until I get there to buy them? Anyone with experience traveling in Spain please let me know ASAP! Thanks.

  1. I've always just gone up to the ticket window and bought them.  Seville to Cadiz is a long trip and from Cadiz to Granada is not any shorter.  Both trips are certainly do-able... and quite nice... but they are long.

Just wait until the trip and buy your tickets at the window... just allow a little extra time because you will be fighting the tourists at that time of the year

  2. Foreigners find it difficult buying train tickets online for Spanish travel - and with good reason. First, the website can be confusing ( http://www.renfe.es ) even though there's an English version, once you take a few steps through it it changes to Spanish.

You CAN buy the tickets online but, I believe, if you don't LIVE IN Spain you have to pickup your tickets at the station the first time. Once they verify your account (by your presence, I.D., and checking your credit card) you can then buy them online thereafter.

I just bought train tickets online for the first time but I have a Spanish national I.D. number and live here so it was easier for me. I was able to print out the tickets as well.

When creating your account you'll be asked for your ID number. You can use your Passport number but there are too many numbers on your passport than are allowed in the account field - I think.

I have quite a bit of experience traveling around Spain by train and only a little by bus. I much prefer train travel even if it is more expensive. It's DEFINITELY more comfortable.

  3. I know you can buy train tickets at renfe.com.  I believe you then pick them up, using a pin number and your credit card, at the automated kiosks at the ticketing area in the station.  I'm sure you will be told online.  There is a translator at the home page.  Check into trains from Cádiz to Granada.  You may have to go through Sevilla again, but I bet it's faster than the bus.

  4. well the trains is very easy www.renfe.es

the buses are a but more complicated because there are different bus companies so just yahoo it and it wills show you what company does that trip and check out the website
