  1. A mobilis card offers unlimited use of the Metro, RER, and bus system.  However, many of the tourist sites are within walking distance of each other.  You may find it is more economical to buy individual metro tickets.

For a sample itinerary:  When you arrive at Gare du Nord you can transfer to the Metro.  Take ligne 4 direction Porte de Clignancourt and get off at Poissoniers to explore Montmartre and Sacre Coeur.  Get back on the Metro, and go to Charles de Gaulle Etoile to view the Arc de Triomphe.  Stroll down the Champs Elysees to Place de la Concorde.  Cross the Seine and walk back towards the Eiffel Tower.  Stop at Hotel des Invalides if you like.  Get on RER C direction Vitry Sur Seine and get off at St. Michel.  Walk around the neighborhood a bit (St Germain de Pres and le Quartier Latin) before crossing over to Ile de la Cite.  Go to Notre Dame and Ste. Chappelle, and browse through the bouquinistes stalls.  Cross over to the right bank and walk to Hotel de Ville.  Continue to the north-east of the Hotel de Ville and wander the streets of the Marais and Beaubourg.  If you make a big almost-circle, you can end your walk at Chatelet-Les Halles, where you will catch RER ligne B direction CDG aeroport and get off at Gare de Nord.  If I counted correctly, this would take 4 Metro tickets, which would cost a lot less than a mobilis one-day pass.

In one day, you won't be able to see everything the city has to offer, but this itinerary will keep you moving and you'll get to see some wonderful things.  Save the museums for a longer trip.  It takes half a day at least to see Musee d'Orsay and several days to see the Louvre.  If you feel you can't leave Paris without going to at least one museum, then go to the Rodin Museum or the Cluny Museum-- they are both small enough to see in a couple of hours.

  2. I agree with BOB... however, if you want to see Paris on the cheap, then when you get to Gare du Nord, turn left when you walk out the front door and walk down 100 yards or so and you will see the bus stands.  You can take a bus... I think it's #71 or #17... been a long time so you need to check.. but that one bus will take you past all of the usual sights most visitors want to see in Paris and at the cost of a bus ticket... or 2 if you ride to the end of the line because you will need a second ticket to come back to the Station

  3. Victorior coach station. Get a eurolines coach to gar de nord. You will enjoy the ferry crossing. When you get to paris get a mobilis card for thr day. With this you can use the metro, busses and more importantly the grand lings trains to disney land and vall de europe which is the biggest shopping mall in europe.
