  1. Taxis are available 24/7.

  2. Depending on how late your party goes till, trains may still be an option, 131500.com but if they have stopped, there is always the night ride bus service, which runs until the trains begin again. It really all depends on where your hotel is.

Has your company already arranged which hotel? if not, you can find some really special deals at http://www.hotels2go.com.au/usersignup.p... just sign up to be able to see them. Some even include all of your meals. Well worth checking out.

If you can provide some more detailed information as to which hotel you are staying at etc, we can be more specific with answers. Best regards!

  3. It really depends on where your hotel is, how familiar you are with Sydney, and what you want to do and see.

Having your car can be very convenient - no waiting for a cab, bus or train (wet Friday nights can mean a long wait for a taxi). Driving in Sydney is OK so long as you know where you're going.

Some of the inner city areas can be really frustrating to navigate if you miss a turn or you get off the main roads (lots of one way streets can drive you nuts!). ygwild's idea that you bring a gps with you is a great suggestion if you have one.

However, a car can be a hassle if you're not staying in the City & want to go in for shopping, the Art Gallery, Darling Harbour, Museum etc. You normally need to pay for parking. In the CBD there is no free on street parking, certainly not before 6 PM.

If you're going to bring your car it's a good idea to check with your hotel regarding their parking situation. You can't assume that all hotels provide parking or that you can easily get on-street parking close to your hotel. Plus, if they have the facilities, it often costs around $20 to park overnight at your hotel, sometimes more.

Public transport can be great if you want to do something like go explore the harbour on the ferries, go to the zoo or Manly, take the monorail round the city or even travel on the train up to the Blue Mountains. There's a train from the airport into the City which is a lot cheaper than a taxi.

Taxis are available 24/7 but it can be a very expensive way to get around if you want to go considerable distances.

There are some pretty cheap bus tour day trips that will take you to many of the well known tourist spots. There are often brochures in most hotels and back packer places.

Cheapest way to get to Sydney? You can get some good deals on Jetstar. Coming by train, bus or car is relatively slow. A bus is probably the cheapest way to get here, but what you save in money you lose in time. Plus, you can feel a bit grubby and ordinary after a long bus trip - not great if you're coming to work and party. This is much the same with the train.

Personally, I'd probably choose to fly and stay in the CBD. I'd use trains to cover any long or congested distances such as from the airport into the CBD during peak hour. To explore I'd take a ferry trip or River cat, maybe a bus tour for sight seeing; and a taxi back from the party (unless your hotel is in the CBD & the party is a long way away eg a taxi fare to Cronulla will cost almost as much as a budget hotel). Ask your party host/ess they'll be able to give you an idea of approx costs &/or where to get off the train.

So there's no simple answer. Hope this helps.

  4. get a car easier. it depends where you want to visit tho. public transport both mel/syd are very realible

  5. You can get a car but make sure you get a GPS with it as well as Sydnet roads are messed up compared to melbourne.
