  1. Can't help you there! But take the worse car you can find, friends preferably! Get insurance, and make sure i covers Mexico, very important. Cars often get stolen down there.

    You'll also need a passport. Carry some disposable cash on you! You never know.

Definitely.  Mexico City's elevetion is at 7,300 feet, right in the center of the country, so you'll get lots of scenic hours driving through the mountains.  I don't know the names of the exact ranges, but, I'm sure if you Google things like "mountains, state of Mexico" and "mountains, northern Mexico," you'll find more specific info.

    There are three major mountain chains that converge on the US border with Mexico, so you could end up going through the southern ends of the

    Sierra Nevada and the Rocky Mountains

    and then a good portion of the

    Sierra Madres in Mexico
