My guess is under FIBA rules a player cannot lift his//her pivot foot while in NBA rules he/she cannot land that foot. The US Olympic Redeem Team were hardly ever called for traveling yet actually were by FIBA standards.

  1. Well, noone knows who the FIBA is, but in the NBA, it's looser because the whole sport benefits from higher scores at the end of the game. Financially.

  2. Its the referees they are really watching them.. in the NBA they let them play! FIBA is all about the calls!

  3. because they dont call **** in the NBA...

  4. in FIBA you have to dribble before you land the first foot

  5. with FIBA rules, you can´t receive the ball when running then make 2 or more steps and then keep running and bouncing the ball. you always have to bounce the ball and keep on running.

this is what USA players make in NBA, i agree it is more spectacular and it is good for increasing the score, BUT in Olympics should be FIBA rules.

that is the truth and that is what spanish team complained about.

    bye

  6. The NBA has long ago decided to change the rules so the show is better $$$$$$$$$$$$$ NBA is all about $$$$$$$$$$$$, FIBA on the other hand is more focused on keeping it fair to the players and teams around the world, those rules apply for the world of basketball. Althoug FIBA has been changing the rules to catch up with the US rules and viceversa

  7. I am a basketball player from the Netherlands.

When catching the ball, you must immediately make a dribble before changing your pivot foot.

You cannot make a step without actually dribbling or having dribbled the ball.
