Traveling on an airplane?

I don't travel much, so I got a few questions. Biggest one right now is: If I check my bag, do any toiletries and other liquids have to meet a certain capacity? (Like, no liquids over 3 oz or something?) Once again, I don't travel a lot, and I'd really like a legitimate answer, so please don't waste my time with 'idk sounds like a tough question'. Please.

  1. There are no limits on the liquid or gels placed in you checked as long as there are no flammable items.  Liquids or gels in your carry on (the bag that you take with you through security and on the plane) must be 3.4 ounces or under and in one quart sized clear bag.

  2. it doesnt matter.

but they have to be in your actual suitcase, and not your carry-on.

if you have it in your carry-on, they'll confiscate it and throw it away.

and they dont let you take in bottles of water in your carry on. so dont bring any unless you plan on chugging it before security.

    =]

  3. No, there is no liquid restriction for checked baggage - the 3 fluid ounce rule is for carry-on bags only: http://www.tsa.gov/311/index.shtm

This list can probably answer most of your questions about what you can bring in your bags, both carry on and checked: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/p...

Check your airline's website for more specific information about the maximum sizes and weights for your bags - I'd give you a link, but I don't know what airline you're flying.

    Hope this helps!

  4. nope, it doesn't matter how much you have. i just traveled to new zealand and had 2 bottles of shampoo and conditioner, hairspray, and liquids, and it did not matter.

JUST IN CASE, check your airline website.

  5. First of all your question stated "If I Check my bag" Well if you check your bag you are allowed to carry almost anysize container (baring illegal substances), But you must keep your bag unlocked so that a TSA agent may get into it if need be.

However if you meant carry on luggage then, all liquids, and stuff must be in 3 oz. or smaller containers. (NOT 3 oz. of liquid in a 10 oz. contianer) and all this stuff must collectively be in a clear zip lock bag. (qt. size) 1 for each Traveler. This does not include baby milk or medicine.

  6. Toiletries don't matter when you place them in your luggage. They ask you not to lock your bag becaus they will probably open it to check your stuff.

***DO NOT PLACE ANY LIQUID OR LIQUID BASE ITEMS IN YOUR CARRY ON. THEY WILL MAKE YOU THROW IT AWAY***

  7. The 3.2 ox in a 1quart ziploc bag is for carry-on bags only. Keep in mind that you bag will be checked by the TSA and  could be looked in. You can put all your liquids and gel in with no problems. Go to the link below for morinfo.

I am a TSA supervisor. Have a great trip!
