Traveling permit question?

i was wondering if im not a u.s citizen but a green card holder and have obtained a traveling permit, will be a lot of hassel to actually travel or are there problems associated with not having a u.s passport that i would face? and how long does it usually take to get a traveling permit? thank you for ur input.

  1. A US Travel Permit, as it clearly states, is not a passport.  Although some countries do allow it to be used in lieu of a passport, and will issue visas into it for those who for whatever reason do not have a passport from their own country of citizenship, not all countries are so obliging.  Know before you go.


  2. If you have a green card and travel permit it should not be a problem.

  3. I would suggest you do not leave US more than 6 months/year..... and you must have I-131 filed and approved if you want to leave US longer than 1 year.
