Question:

Traveling to Berlin and Prague in December, what to do?

My fiancee and I will be spending our honeymoon in Berlin starting december 5th, and then taking a train to Prague on the 9th for a few more days.

We've done a little research on the internet and have been to a travel agency, but were still not sure where to go and what to see.

Part of the reason we're going in December is so we can see the two countries decorated for Christmas, and to see Christmas markets and festivals. Any good Krampus events to go to?

Any info would be most helpful, such as what a good hotel to stay at would be, good places to eat, museums, sights, the Christmas festivals/markets, etc.

Besides the fact we both love Christmas(I proposed on christmas Eve) we're both very artsy types(make our living that way) and appreciate art/architecture/design/photography. We also like fine dining-as long as it's not overly pretentious.

Hope this helps with an answer. Thanks.

  1. OK, first of all, Berlin's main thing is Christmas Markets, as you can see here:

Krampus is something traditional to the Alps region, and anywhere else it would be - if it would exist at all - a show for tourists.

You can find some restaurant recommendations in Berlin here:

Regarding a place to stay, how about the following:

    The Ritz

    The Adlon

    Arcotel Velvet

    Lux 11

    Art Nouveau

    Askanischer Hof

    Motel One Alexanderplatz

Regarding the areas in Berlin - Lux 11 is in a very artsy area and so is Arcotel Velvet; the Ritz and the Adlon simply in the best locations in the city; Art Nouveau is in an old romantic building but a bit far off from "cool Mitte" district (and so is Askanischer); Motel One Alexanderplatz very close to Lux 11 and Arcotel but hardly as nicely designed as they are.

  2. Definitely take a lot of warm clothing.. :-)
