Hi everyone. I am wondering about customs information when traveling from Canada to Argentina. I have read somewhere about bringing documentation for computers and other valuable items and declaring all gold. What kind of documentation? If anyone can provide me with info that would be great. Also, any info regarding money exchange and what to bring (travellers cheques, etc.)

Thanks!

  1. NO Documentation is required, unless you bring more than one computer and lots of gold or jewelry. All that seems to be personal will be no problem at all.

Money, Please exchange as you exit Customs, at the "Banco de la Nacion Argentina" NOT inside the baggage claim area!

To-day you can expect the official exchange to be: about $3.15/USD

US Dollars is the best, also do not worry you will be able to use any credit card plus withdraw money from the local ATMs with no problems.

Traveller cheques are exchanged at a lesser rate and only at banks and exchange stores.

Please lock your bags properly before dispatching them. If you are flying via AC/Air Canada (direct) there should be no problem on checking your luggage locked.

NO valuables at all in your checked luggage.

*** DO not forget your Aeroplan miles (11.140 in total for this trip)

  2. Yeah, Banco de la Nacion gives the best rate.

The other exchange booth inside the baggage claim is called Global Exchange.  Terrible rates!
