Traveling to Canun, any necessary items I should definitely take?

I'm leaving tomorrow and doing my last minute shopping today. Any ideas of necessary items I need, So far I've packed the usual (clothes, flip-flops, sneakers, sunblock lotion, umbrella, makeup etc...)

Note: I'm going with my girlfriends

She's the customer, she can take whatever kind of mind she wants to - and I would suggest that those providing services learn to provide service and not lecture about it, or you won't be doing it much longer.

Besides, what's not to like about Cancun? <shrug>

Anyway - Yes, take (AND USE - RELIGIOUSLY) waterproof sunscreen - and not just for your skin but also for your LIPS. It costs 3x as much in Mexico so take extra and dont ever think you don't need it, 'cause you do, believe me.

The hat that was mentioned is also for the same reason. Have you ever seen someone whose scalp is peeling? Use a hat if you're out for extended periods or you'll look like that when you get home.

Yes also on the Immodium, just in case, but also take (and once again USE RELIGIOUSLY) some chewable acidophulos tablets (get them at any drugstore). They have 'good' germs which will reduce the chance for any 'bad' germs to grow in your stomach.

Take those individually wrapped antiseptic wipes or lotion for times when you have to touch a lot of public stuff and may not have time to wash your hands each time

If you're going with friends and you don't think you'll want to all hang out at exactly the same places all of the time, get some rental cell phones from Mexitel Cellular to stay coordinated with each other. They're cheap and they work well and save a lot of time trying to keep everybody on the same page.

I agree with the disposable cameras.  You can get them down there but they'll rob you blind on them.  I paid $25 for an underwater camera to go snorkeling.  I could have gotten one here for $7.

Immodium is always safe bet when in Mexico.  Especially now that their water supply might be having more problems than usual.  

Take a hat too.  I always take a white baseball cap with me to protect my head and face from the sun.  Have fun!

I would advise a couple of disposable cameras.  Make sure you  get 1 dollar bills for tips, cabs etc... I usualy take 25-30 when I go.  Grab a beach towel and your suit or 2.  Take 1 nice outfit incase you girls decide to treat yourselves to something special.  Have so much fun and remember to snap photos for lasting memories!

If your hair gets frizzy, anti-freeze.  Take some mosquito spray, Cancun is very tropical.  Dollars are accepted, take small bills.  Take plenty of dollar bills, you will need to tip.  People in Cancun bend over backwards for you, but if you tip...moreso.

Make sure to visit 5th Ave in PLAYA DEL CARMEN at nite, it is a trendy place with beautiful restaurants/bars.

A cool place to have din with your friends is:  THAi restaurant/bar in the LA ISLA mall.  Try the mango martini, to die for.  The restaurant is in the back, by the lagoon.  Also a MUST restaurant is PERICOS, 7:00 p.m. good time to arrive.
