Traveling to Cozumel, Mexico; what should I be sure to do?

if you have the harrowing and life threatening opportunity to take a cab....make sure the cab driver understands english before you let him drive you anywhere. um...if you buy something from a street vendor, always haggle the price and stay in the main shopping or touristy areas. bring your own bottled water if you plan on drinking any water. senior frog's is always fun.

Try to sign up for the dune buggy trip. It includes snorkelling, dune buggy (you drive) around the island , beach time,lunch, and a stop at the "pee pee" station. It is about a 4 hour excursion

the main thing to do is go scuba diving! Cozumel is known as one of the best dive spots in the world, If your not certified, just do the discovery course. you can do the training at your hotels dive shop (if its one of the big resorts that has one) or one of the dive shops in town. I went there recently and on one dive I saw 3 nurse sharks, 5 barracudas, a small stingray, and a mora eel. the coral is beautiful. and as for food, stay at an all-inclusive. you save a lot of  money and iberostar has great food. Also, take a horseback riding trip through the jungle. theres a few places that offer this, but bring sunscreen. you see monkeys, iguanas, and you see mayan ruins. its about a 2 1/2 hour trip and its only like 20-30usd/person.
