Traveling to Ireland ... any suggestions ?

Question

My fiance and I want to travel to Ireland later this year or early next. For those that have been there before : do you have any suggestions on where to stay, best time of year to go, what cities to see, things to do, etc ?

We would like to be near the eastern coast because we want to travel to Scotland as well to visit our friends. But if you love the western coast, please add your input as well and we'll just take an extra couple of days for Scotland.

If you want great food stay in dunbrody but i have stayed in most of these hotels and they are all really nice depending on what you're looking for.....

Harvey's Point Hotel in Donegal is great rooms are huge and the area is fantastic, most local pubs do live Irish music.

Kilkenny in nice I'm actually staying in this hotel at the weekend:

Dalkey is a really nice place to visit in Co. Dublin check out the coffee shop idlewilde there or Benito's restaurant.

If you're only going to come to Ireland for two days, don't bother at all. Spend the time in Scotland, and enjoy Scotland all the more. Ireland is usually best in April/May, but then it's hard to say for sure when the weather will be best, because it's so unpredictable.

The Guinness house, Dublin Zoo, Croke Park, Wicklow Jail , Kilmanen Jail and the GPO which  is a post office with a great historical significance to it are great things to see.

You could go down to Cork and See the Blarney Stone. The myth is If you kiss it you’ll never shut up!

In Dublin, The best night life is definitely in Temple Bar. It’s big, It’s modern and It’s expensive while it has loads of history and culture to it too.

If you want a relaxing, quiet holiday in the country or enjoy the scenery, then any parts of the country will do it for you really like Donegal, Galway, Clare, Mayo etc.

If you want a shopping, busy, touristy holiday then anywhere (or most places) in Dublin will do it for you.

A town in Kerry (the South of Ireland, It’s beside Cork too) called Tralee is very touristy. It is the largest town in Ireland.

It has many attractions and loads of shops and a great night life.

It’s great for young people and people with small families. It suits everyone.

It has an aqua dome swimming pool which is always packed and outside the pool, You can play crazy Golf.

The People in Ireland, in my opinion are an extremely welcoming race. I think this because I have went to other countries from a young age on exchanges, holidays with college etc. and I thought no one was as hospitable as the Irish.

well you ask what cities to go and see and I can tell you now that we really only have one city and thats Dublin.As an Irish person I strongly reccomend visiting the cliffs of  Moher as well as the Burren (both in the west).You may also want to visit Kerry it has absolutley brilliant scenery.Stereotypical Ireland with its pints of Guinness,turf fires,pubs,music and the irish language can all be found in the west.Dublin is a must aswell.However due to rapid economic growth in the past decade the cost of living here has soared so i worn you prices will be dear.Apart from that Ireland is a greaat country and I am proud to be Irish.Failte(welcome)!!!

You have to see the Cliffs of Mohr- and thats on the west coast. They are unbelievable. Actually the whole west coast is the prettiest and least populated side of Ireland. Here you can see the stone fences and smaller little villages. If you are renting a car, be prepared for the roads, they are incredibly narrow! The bed and breakfasts are great places to stay and there are so many of them you dont need to worry about making reservations.  The people are really friendly. Usually you dont have much choice for breakfast, they just ask if you want it and you say yes or no! I wouldnt recommend the blood pudding, but then again I didn't even try it! Have fun, Ireland is incredibly beautiful.
