Hello,

I will be traveling to MEXICO 2008 in March by sea (cruise). I am Indian Citizen and married to U.S. Citizen and I will not get my green card by March. Although My Passport says that i am permanent resident of U.S. till 2009. Can i still travel to MEXICO? Do i need anything like advance parole document or i already have this when i entered US?

  1. Do not be ready to enter back into the USA immediately.

  2. You can travel to Mexico but you may have a problem getting back into the U.S.

  3. You might (even though I'm not a 100% positive) have some problems.  Also, the fact that you are from India probably means might need a passport from your country of origin (I'm not sure of this so be sure to call one of the U.S. Embassies listed in the link below)  Just read the following three links and especially, call the U.S. Embassy to find out if you can or can't travel by cruise.

The first link indicates you'll need a birth certificate and a drivers license (by January 31, 2008) and that you'll need a passport sometime during the summer of 2008 (they will be giving 60 days advance notice).

The second link is information and phone numbers of U.S. Embassies.  They should be able to provide you with more detailed information in regards to your passport (that is already issued to you) being good enough at this time.

The third link gives you information in regards to visas.

The fourth link is awesome because it provides you with all kinds of different information such as Mexican laws, travel visas and many other things.

  4. I would say you should talk to a government office or the cruise line company that you are using instead of asking on this message board.  You do not want to get this wrong!  When I went on a cruise to Ensanada, they are pretty strict about checking ID's and citizenship and everything.
