Traveling to Mexico with greencard?

My boyfriend has a green card with no citizenship to any other country; hence, no passport. His family gave up their citizenships when they immigrated to United States. Will a US greencard suffice?

You can buy airline tickets no problem - problem is you will not be allowed to even board the plane w/o a passport. No refunds ! Sorry !

Land travel no problem until I think July next year. The passport agency will be overrun next year processing passports so avoid the rush and get one now.

You can pay extra for expidited service but its a real hassel and NO guarantees. If you live in a city where they have a passport agency then you can make an appointment and get same day as long as you have your tickets in hand. they will not expidite w/o a travel itinerary that is pending.

your dealing with a screwed up govt agency here so get out your patience - cause they will test logic and your will :)

Paying an express service is an option and I found the best agency to be Boston Mass. Washington D.C - friggin forget about it. Do not let your application get processed outta Washington !!!!

Need 2 forms photo I.D , certified copy of birth cert. and some bills from your residence.

yes he can if it has not expired, BUT if it is not valid, he cant get back into the U S A. but I can get him to the u s a ,for  $3500. per person

What he needs is what is called a TRAVEL DOCUMENT:  It is for people who immigrate to the U.S. as refugees ( usually) and have no citizenship elsewhere...therefore cannot get a passport.  For right now, he can travel to MEXICO or CANADA ONLY using his green card and a photo I.D:  After June 2009, he will need the travel document.  He also needs it to travel to any other part of the world.  It is expensive..but it must be done.  See sites below for info.  Once he becomes a U.S. citizen, he will be able to get a U.S. passport.
