I'm heading off to Bangkok in a couple of weeks on business. Been hearing about the anti-government demonstrations and violence in areas of town recently. What tourist areas should be avoided?

  1. Stay away from the Government House and the Parliament Building for sure. Which is near the King's Palace, Dusit Zoo and the Throne Hall

The above is a recent article with a map to show you where not to go

They also suggest staying away from Government buildings, which are scattered all over Bangkok.

The main thing is the Government House and probably the Parliament Building.

The Thai realize that tourism is a major source of income for them.  That is why the areas of protests are limited.  That does not mean it is safe to watch what is going on either.  They are a very passionate people.  And that passion can carry too far sometimes.

    Good luck
