Traveling to Tijuana U.S. Citizen ?

I can't get a hold of my birthcertificate but have I'd and ss card is that ok is there an 1800 number or website to make sure those documents are acceptable I am only staying in TJ

  1. Carlie P is right...you must have your birth certificate. and a photo I.D.  See 1st site below.  if you do not know what office to contact to get your replacement birth certificate, see site below, choose state where you were born and click on it, and the info will pop up.


  2. A social security card is not proof of citizenship as legal resident aliens who work in the US are given SS numbers.  You need to contact the vital records bureau in the state or county of your birth to have them send you a copy of your birth certificate.

  3. If you are only going into TJ, and staying for less than 72 hours, the requirements are different than for a regular tourist Visa (FMT) because TJ in within the Border zone. Scroll down to FMT requirements.
